Itinerary

This compact two-day tour explores the spectacular Snæfellsnes Peninsula along Iceland’s dramatic West Coast. Often called one of Iceland’s best-kept secrets, the peninsula showcases incredibly diverse scenery crowned by the majestic Snæfellsjökull glacier-volcano. This ancient natural wonder famously inspired Jules Verne’s novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

For those seeking an extra adventure, an optional guided tour (available at an additional fee) takes you into the 8,000-year-old Vatnshellir Cave, where you can journey beneath the surface and feel closer to the Earth’s core.

Throughout your exploration, you’ll encounter towering peaks, dramatic sea cliffs, haunting lava fields, black sand beaches, and charming fishing villages. Stops include excellent photo opportunities at the iconic Kirkjufell and the striking shoreline of Djúpalónssandur, known for its fascinating rock formations.

Accommodation is provided at a cozy country hotel in the Snæfellsnes area, offering a peaceful retreat away from city lights. During winter, if skies are clear and forecasts favorable, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to witness the Northern Lights. While sightings can never be guaranteed, with a bit of luck, you may experience the unforgettable spectacle of colorful auroras illuminating the night sky.
